Volunteering at Fareham Heathens
Although Fareham Heathens is a non-profit making organisation, it is incredibly rich when is comes to team spirit and support. The people you meet each week whether they are training your children, managing their team, keeping the children and parents fed, watered, safe and kitted out, keeping the club clean and maintained are doing so on a voluntary basis. You may too have helped out with your children's kitchen duty. At present we have around 50 volunteers at Fareham Heathens RFU who gave over 7800 hours of voluntary help last year, this support and commitment enables the club to offer RFU accredited training and management and the club is indebted to it's volunteers. We simply could not run without them.
So where is this leading you may ask - well we would like to get more members involved in the club, as the old saying goes "more hands make light work". It also feels good to take part, giving the club a family friendly feel. The time you can offer may be 1 hour per season or 1 hour per week the choice is yours if you wish to get involved.
What we would like to see is members offering their skills to the club, you may be an amazing event manager, have great organisational skills or keen to co-ordinate fund raising events. Last year I was Team Manager for the Under 12's but felt like I wanted a change so the club supported me in my move to Club Volunteer Coordinator . Within this role I will help coordinate and support the fantastic team of volunteers at the club and hopefully generate more volunteers to showcase their expertise for the club. Please visit the current vacancies section to see where we need your help.
Thank you for your time and making the club the supportive, family friendly success it is today!
