The ‘Heathens' Way
At Fareham Heathens we aspire to play a style of rugby that allows players to develop, whatever their standard or capability. Players are given the freedom to play what is in front of them and express themselves – what we call ‘heads-up’ rugby.
Player development is at the centre of all we do and this is reflected in our Annual Coaching Strategy that is developed and delivered by qualified and RFU Licensed Coaches. Our job is to provide a learning environment within which players can improve current skills and learn new skills enabling them to compete at the highest level at which they are able. The development of our coaches is vital in this regard and all coaches commit to Continued Personal Development sessions delivered by The Coach & Player Development department of the RFU.
Our Club is endowed with a wealth of knowledge from present players, past players who assist in club development, coaches at various levels of their development and a resident RFU Coach Developer; personal skills from outside Rugby Union are also welcomed as these are valuable to assist the club to grow.
We are wholly committed to improving the way that we coach our players. Our Senior and Youth players are at the centre of all we do as a club and everything we do should aim to give them the opportunity to develop and the freedom to enjoy and play rugby. Our aim is to provide players with a development path-way from U7 through to Senior rugby in a challenging but enjoyable environment, with continued hard work and genuine mutual support from all players, coaches, managers and supporters alike Fareham Heathens can continue to develop into a great club.
